beautiful sadness

she works at a stop on the road
a teenager in transition
from girl to woman
the image changing with the light

I stop for coffee
after another day
grinding down the pipe
between the two ends of my life

and it's always the strangest mix
the joy for her moment
and the sadness
that mine has past
